Let it Snow

Snow can hit us at any time from the end of October but it seldom lasts long at this time especially where we are on the coast. Mike and I love snow and we have a young labrador who is just delirious about the stuff!!

Looking Northeast

Today we were off out early on one of our favourite walks..Cheyne Hill about a mile from our house. There are always tremendous views from Cheyne..towards the coast and towards the Grampians so cameras are always tucked away in pockets. We set off on what was a fine sunny morning with lying snow so we expected to get some bright crisp views.
Setting off up the hill there were blue skies seen behind snow laden branches but as we climbed further we could see snow coming in over the hills. The first part of our walk follows an old road up the side of the hill and it leads mainly through woodland. This is always a magical path in snow even better if you're the first person to walk there since the snow fell. Hannah was having a whale of a time just runnning and running and jumping and skidding and doing what dogs do...having so much fun!

Once out of the woodland we were up on to the open hillside where the snow was pelting down!! Not to worry we know the way and we always make sure we're appropriately dressed. I wouldn't like to do a longer walk than this.Snow stinging your face isn't a lot of fun!
The last photo is Mike's and I'm not sure why it has a blue 'cast' compared to mine......Maybe something to do with his language as we headed downhill into driving snow!!!
