Shoogly Beads is a husband and wife design team based beside the sea in Stonehaven on the lovely Northeast coast of Scotland. Mike is responsible for the gorgeous polymer clay beads and Pat is responsible for the jewellery design. The 'Shoogly' part of our name comes from a good Scots word meaning shaky, wobbly, swinging......just what beads and charms should do when you hang them off things.......a charm bracelet should be very shoogly as should dangly earrings! We also make and sell exclusive beads, pendants, charms, buttons and other bits and pieces in polymer clay. These can be used for your own creations! Pat has also re-discovered her love of painting and other crafts and some of these have been added to our shops. Currently we are selling our contemporary jewellery, polymer clay, art work and knitting via Folksy and Etsy

The snow has slowly melted but there is still enough hanging around to make older folks in the community nod sagely and announce 'Aye, aye, it's hinging aboot for mair sna.' Sure enough we have more forecast for Thursday! Just as the snow has come earlier and hung about for longer so has my earring phase! Think I've made two bracelets to 5 pairs of earrings, something of a record for me! I like fairytale and mythical themes and like to see what the beads make me come up with. I've had some beautiful Murano in my bead stash just waiting for something to bring them to life. I've always been reluctant to use anything other than silver and always avoided plated metals but this year I discovered Tierracast and all their lovely old fashioned charms...I love their little birds and sea creatures, they are what brought a lot of my Murano hearts to life. In addition I've started to use Gold fill after being persuaded that it doesn't wear through like other plated metals!

One friend commented, after looking at photos, that she'd thought I was making 'Bette Lynch' earrings until she saw how delicate they are in real life!!!

    Hello there - I have only just read your message to me of 3rd December - my apologies - I have been busy Tweeting, getting ready for Christmas etc. I thought I'd have a look at my Blog today and start smartening it up. I have a long list of things to do as my sales of jewellery just did not happen. I noticed you had managed to sell some items on Folksy - I'm really pleased for you. Your jewellery is different and does really stand out so I'm not surprised that you found some customers.

    I feel like giving up but will probably carry on in the New Year.

    We are off to New Zealand in the New Year to see my son and daughter in law. They had a baby last March and I'm longing to see her. She is my first grandchild - so the jewellery can take a back seat until the end of January. Then I'll be back with more ideas.

    I wish you both a Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year and hope you make a few more sales before the year is out.
